Principal Specialist - Estimating and Pricing

About the role

RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, seeks an employee to join the Land & Air Defense Systems (L&ADS) Estimating organization. This role involves preparing various types of proposals for development, production, and competitive contracts, supporting gate reviews, government audits, and negotiations with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and understanding of proposals
  • Work with functions from across the company to develop the labor, material, and other direct costs associated with proposed contracts
  • Utilize company estimating and pricing programs and tools
  • Develop detailed bidding guidelines which are used to kick off proposals
  • Provide estimating support for the development of Basis of Estimates to include validating and analyzing actuals, ensuring consistency within task descriptions, and confirming estimating approach is sound
  • Prepare and present limited complexity
  • Submit Gate charts for program/company leadership review of proposal information
  • Avoid proposals that do not comply with basic FAR and internal requirements
  • Absorb and formulate potential solutions leading to a thorough proposal submittal
  • Show ability and willingness to gain special access clearance to work activities as appropriate

Requirements

  • You must have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, such as Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, lookup functions, pivot tables, filtering/sorting, etc.)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact with senior levels of management and customer organizations
  • Good investigative/analytical abilities, strong organization skills, and demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines in a schedule-driven environment
  • The ability to work well in teams, with peers and management
  • The ability to follow and apply internal and external regulations to the development of company proposals
  • Basic working knowledge of the RTN pricing tool, ProPricer, is desired but not required

Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance is a plus, but not required

Pay

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
