Principal Solutions Architect, Storage, WWSO Storage SA Team
About the role
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Storage Solutions Architect to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Amazon FSx for Lustre. In this role, you will act as a technical authority, working closely with service teams to drive innovation and adoption while supporting field teams and strategic customers in high-performance computing (HPC) and generative AI (GenAI) use cases. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable diving deep into storage service internals with engineering teams and explaining complex architectures to technical decision-makers.
You will partner with AWS storage service teams to influence roadmaps, document best practices, and drive feature adoption through technical content creation and industry event presentations. Travel requirements are approximately 25%, primarily for speaking engagements and technical events.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical specialist for FSx Lustre, working closely with the service team to drive feature adoption and customer success.
- Partner with FSx Lustre GTM and Product teams to develop and execute technical strategies that drive service growth.
- Provide architectural guidance to customers implementing HPC and machine learning workloads using FSx Lustre.
- Create technical content, deliver workshops, and speak at events to educate customers on FSx Lustre best practices.
- Capture and advocate for customer feedback to influence the FSx Lustre roadmap.
- Collaborate with field Solutions Architect teams to support complex customer opportunities and technical challenges.
- Mentor other Solutions Architects on FSx Lustre architecture patterns and use cases.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in specific technology domain areas such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent.
- Experience developing technology solutions and evangelizing end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing.
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including at the C-level, through training, workshops, publications, and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation or equivalent.
- Knowledge of large-scale automation and workflow management or equivalent.
- Knowledge of database design and implementation or equivalent.
- Strong presentation and whiteboarding skills, with a high degree of comfort speaking with internal and external executives, IT management, and developers.
- Experience architecting, migrating, transforming, or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud.

Pay
- USA, CA, San Francisco: $210,200 - $284,300 USD annually.
- USA, CO, Denver: $182,800 - $247,300 USD annually.
- USA, MA, Boston: $182,800 - $247,300 USD annually.
- USA, VA, Arlington: $182,800 - $247,300 USD annually.
- USA, VA, Herndon: $182,800 - $247,300 USD annually.
- USA, WA, Seattle: $182,800 - $247,300 USD annually.
Compensation includes base salary, sign-on payments, and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
