About the role

As an Application Modernization Solution Architect at AWS, you will help customers maximize the benefits of the cloud through application modernization. You will work with enterprise account teams and customers to accelerate their cloud adoption journey, focusing on migrating and modernizing applications, including large-scale data center migrations, SAP, Oracle, VMware, and custom application refactoring.

You will serve as a trusted advisor, working alongside AWS teams to help customers transform existing workloads by designing modern target architectures optimized for business agility, innovation, performance, resiliency, and cost. Your role involves understanding customer business drivers and application architectures, delivering technical assessments, and crafting scalable cloud architectures and migration plans.

You will collaborate with Business Development, Professional Services, Customer Solutions Managers (CSMs), and the Partner team to ensure successful customer progression through programs like the AWS Migration Acceleration Program. Additionally, you will mentor other AWS solution architects on migration best practices and contribute to internal and customer-facing publications.

Responsibilities

  • Create, articulate, and position an innovative and compelling value proposition to help customer executives realize the benefits of migrating to AWS.
  • Define and execute technical migration and modernization strategies in collaboration with AWS technical teams, including Solutions Architects, CSMs, Technical Account Managers, and Professional Services consultants.
  • Deliver modern architectures such as microservices and event-driven architectures using managed services and cloud-native capabilities.
  • Engage with customer teams (development, infrastructure, security, and IT operations) to identify repeatable patterns and architectures for cloud migration.
  • Drive the co-development of new go-to-market approaches and opportunities with the Geo business lead.
  • Contribute to AWS internal and customer-facing publications, such as white papers and blogs, to scale your knowledge.
  • Identify platform improvements and influence future iterations of the AWS platform and the Migration Acceleration Program.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to identify, develop, and close deals.
  • Engage with C-level customer executives to inspire, define, and execute enterprise cloud migration strategies, demonstrating thought leadership and a customer-centric approach.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in specific technology domain areas such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data, and analytics.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent.
  • Experience developing technology solutions and evangelizing end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing.
  • Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including C-level executives, through training, workshops, and publications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of large-scale automation and workflow management or equivalent.
  • Strong presentation and whiteboarding skills, with comfort speaking to internal and external executives, IT management, and developers.
  • Experience architecting, migrating, transforming, or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud.
  • Experience in cloud architecture and CXO-level engagement.

Pay

Annual base salary ranges for this position:

  • USA, GA, Atlanta: $182,800 - $247,300 USD
  • USA, IL, Chicago: $182,800 - $247,300 USD
  • USA, MA, Boston: $182,800 - $247,300 USD
  • USA, TX, Austin: $182,800 - $247,300 USD
  • USA, TX, Dallas: $182,800 - $247,300 USD
  • USA, VA, Arlington: $182,800 - $247,300 USD
  • USA, WA, Seattle: $182,800 - $247,300 USD

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
