Principal Solution Architect
KBX Logistics, a global leader in transportation and technology-driven freight management, is seeking a Principal Solution Architect (Data & AI) to lead the architecture of our Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) and evolve it into an AI-enabled data platform.
About the role
This is a hands-on role for someone with deep AWS solution architecture expertise and a builder's mindset. You will evaluate, design, and implement AI capabilities that improve how users interact with enterprise data. While prior hands-on AI implementation experience is valuable, we recognize the rapid evolution of AI technologies and seek someone who can shape KBX's long-term AI architecture strategy.
Our Team
The KBX DataOps team builds and supports enterprise data capabilities in AWS, enabling business teams to access trusted data, improve decision-making, and scale analytics. We collaborate across business, technology, governance, cloud, and security teams to deliver reliable data products and modern platform capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the architecture of the Enterprise Data Platform, including integration patterns, governance controls, and platform capabilities to support analytics, automation, AI, and agent-based use cases.
- Lead solution architecture and hands-on delivery of scalable data platform capabilities, such as self-service access patterns, APIs, data products, metadata services, and AI-enabled experiences.
- Translate business, data, and AI opportunities into production-ready architecture patterns that balance scalability, security, maintainability, and speed to value.
- Build foundational platform capabilities, including metadata management, semantic models, orchestration frameworks, secure access patterns, observability, and governance services for analytics, automation, and AI workloads.
- Serve as the hands-on architectural lead for the team's AWS-native platform architecture, owning design decisions and contributing directly to implementation.
- Modernize data pipelines to reduce redundancy, control costs, and improve reliability and observability.
- Codify reusable architecture patterns (Terraform) and mentor data engineers to scale successful patterns across initiatives and projects.
- Contribute to architecture review processes as the solution architecture lead.
Requirements
- Experience evaluating, designing, maintaining, or implementing AI/GenAI capabilities within enterprise data and technology environments.
- Experience designing solutions using AWS technologies such as Glue, S3, Redshift, Lambda, Step Functions, and IAM roles and policies.
- Exposure to applying GenAI/LLM patterns over enterprise data.
- Experience applying solution architecture fundamentals: RBAC, data lineage, DR/HA, modular design, and cost optimization.
- Experience influencing architecture and architectural strategy across the organization at various levels.
Qualifications
The following experiences will put you ahead:
- Implementing Model Context Protocol (MCP) or comparable AI-to-data integration patterns.
- Building enterprise AI solutions using LLMs, copilots, agents, or retrieval-based architectures.
- Designing AI infrastructure on AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Developing AI governance, security, and operating patterns.
- Building semantic, metadata, or orchestration layers that enable AI-based data access.
- Evaluating emerging AI technologies and translating them into scalable enterprise architecture patterns.
- Designing layered data architectures across cloud platforms, including immutable raw-data retention, standardized transformation layers, and curated analytics or semantic-serving layers.
- Partnering with IT Security teams on IAM and secure data access pattern initiatives.
- Mentoring data engineers and establishing reusable architecture standards and patterns that scale across teams.
