Principal Software Enginner

About the role

We're partnering with an innovative technology company that builds software powering connected devices, automation, and real-world systems. They're seeking a Principal Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across complex platforms spanning cloud services, device integrations, data pipelines, and customer-facing applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design for large-scale software systems, APIs, and integrations.
• Drive technical direction across multiple engineering teams.
• Help modernize and scale existing platforms into more reliable and maintainable systems.
• Partner with Product, Platform, Firmware, and Engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance.
• Influence key architecture decisions and establish engineering best practices.
• Evaluate new technologies and drive adoption where they can improve scalability, reliability, or product capabilities.

Requirements

• 15+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience designing and delivering complex distributed software systems.
• Expertise with C#/.NET or another object-oriented programming language.
• Experience influencing architecture across multiple teams and projects.
• Strong database design and backend development experience.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and lead through technical influence.
• Excellent communication skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.

Nice to Have

• Experience with IoT, connected devices, smart home technologies, energy management, or automation platforms.
• Experience working alongside hardware, firmware, or embedded engineering teams.
• Background with event-driven architectures, telemetry systems, or distributed systems.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications and scaling platforms.
