About the Role

The Orbit Determination Core team maintains and enhances reusable software components to provide a stable, scalable foundation for stream-aligned teams. The Orbit Determination Timing & Ranging team delivers precise timing, frequency, and ranging services to support satellite operations and constellation management.

The Scrum Master leads the team’s Agile execution, facilitates ceremonies, removes impediments, and ensures disciplined, high-quality delivery within the Mission Software ART. This role strengthens team performance, supports continuous improvement, and coordinates with Product Owners, Product Managers, and the Release Train Engineer (RTE).

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily execution of the current sprint, maintaining momentum toward sprint goals.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Remove impediments quickly and escalate systemic blockers through the RTE when needed.
  • Promote disciplined Agile practices aligned with program standards and DevSecOps workflows.
  • Partner with the Product Owner to ensure stories are sprint-ready and sequencing is clear.
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative team environment focused on predictability and quality.
  • Track team-level metrics, support continuous improvement, and promote a culture of transparency.
  • Coordinate with other Scrum Masters and the RTE to maintain cross-team alignment during PI execution.
  • Maintain alignment with the home functional organization, staying current on policies, processes, best practices, and lessons learned.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Experience with Agile metrics such as backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition.
  • Coding experience using Java, C/C++, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience as a Scrum Master or Agile facilitator supporting software development teams.
  • Active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Flight Dynamics or Network Management (Space Mesh) experience.
  • CSM (Certified Scrum Master) or CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) certification.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented design.
  • Experience guiding Agile teams on Agile/Scrum practices and values to deliver high-quality software.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Experience with DevOps, Continuous Integration/Continuous Development, and automated testing.
  • Experience with satellite ground system software such as mission management, planning and scheduling, command and telemetry, satellite operations, or flight dynamics models.
  • Experience working within multi-team Agile Release Trains.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD, and mission-critical or aerospace environments.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum, Kanban, and iterative planning practices.
  • Skilled at removing impediments, driving team focus, and reinforcing Agile discipline.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels and considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
