Principal Software Engineer, OpenShift AI
About the role
You'll be contributing as a model serving and monitoring subject matter expert for the model serving and explainability features of the open source Open Data Hub project by actively participating in KServe, TrustyAI, Kubeflow, HuggingFace, and several other open source communities. You will work as part of an evolving development team to rapidly design, secure, build, test and release model serving, explainability, and accelerator capabilities. The role is primarily an individual contributor who collaborates closely with other developers and cross-functional teams. You will need to have a passion for working in open source communities and for developing reference architectures that integrate Red Hat, open source, and partner technologies into a cohesive platform.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of model serving and explainability features in the Open Data Hub project
- Participate in open source communities such as KServe, TrustyAI, Kubeflow, HuggingFace, and others
- Collaborate with the development team to design, secure, build, test, and release new model serving, explainability, and accelerator capabilities
- Work closely with other developers and cross-functional teams to develop reference architectures integrating Red Hat, open source, and partner technologies
- Show passion for working in open source communities and for developing integrated platforms
Requirements
- Experience with model serving and explainability technologies
- Strong understanding of open source community dynamics and collaboration
- Ability to contribute to and lead discussions in open source projects
- Experience with Kubernetes and related container orchestration tools
- Knowledge of at least one deep learning framework (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in software development and open source community engagement
Skills
- Proficiency in Python and/or Java
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Understanding of data privacy and security best practices
