About the Role
Solipsys, a wholly owned subsidiary of Collins Aerospace/RTX, is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to drive the design, architecture, and development of new software systems and products. This role operates in a dynamic, complex, and fast-paced environment with both commercial and government customers, including domestic and international programs. You will work directly on command and control software systems, utilizing technologies such as Java, C++, Angular, GraphQL, REST, Kafka, and TypeScript.
Responsibilities
- Drive the design, architecture, and development of critical capabilities in an active Agile environment.
- Demonstrate leadership by coordinating the activities of multiple engineers to ensure successful technical execution and delivery of solutions.
- Proactively identify and address issues early, leading and motivating teams to make decisive corrections and avoid larger problems.
- Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with all levels within and outside the company, tailoring presentations and summaries to the intended audience.
- Collaborate in a team environment to design, architect, and innovate software solutions.
Requirements
- Relevant work experience in software development using object-oriented programming languages such as Java or C++.
- Experience with full life-cycle development, including software requirements, design, development, debug, and test.
- Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct hands-on experience with GraphQL, REST, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Angular, TypeScript, and HTML/CSS.
- Experience driving the design and architecture of software applications and systems.
- Skills with C++ technologies such as Boost, STL, and the Standard C++ Library.
- Experience developing, assessing, and validating complex mathematical solutions (e.g., track filters, track correlation algorithms, weapon engagement algorithms) for sensors and/or command and control (C2) programs.
- Experience developing software in a Linux environment.
- Experience with container orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
- Experience managing cybersecurity processes, including vulnerability assessments.
- Experience developing system models, simulations, and complex algorithmic solutions, including the use of tools like MATLAB.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $118,300 – $224,900 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
