About the opportunity
The Principal Software Engineer - Edge Computing is responsible for architecting and developing core components of next-generation edge computing and spatial intelligence platforms. This role focuses on building foundational software that integrates device and home data to enable intelligent applications and agents. It is a hands-on position in an R&D setting that emphasizes innovation, rapid prototyping, and evolving technical solutions to support connected-home ecosystems.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and build core edge computing and spatial intelligence platform components.
- Develop an edge runtime and integration platform for connected home devices.
- Build software models to represent device and home information for use by other systems.
- Transform complex technical problems from concept through prototype to implementation.
- Evaluate technologies for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Provide architectural leadership, code reviews, and promote strong engineering practices.
- Collaborate with engineers across multiple technical disciplines.
- Contribute to R&D planning and help transition promising ideas into projects.
- Mentor engineers and support a culture of experimentation and quality execution.
Requirements
- Over 10 years of experience in technology with hands-on software development in compiled languages (e.g., Rust, C/C++, Go).
- Background in software systems engineering focusing on foundational technologies.
- Experience in R&D or exploratory technical environments.
- Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts and tradeoffs.
- Proficiency or strong interest in Rust.
