Principal Software Engineer, Business Experience
About the role
The Principal Software Engineer will design and implement systems supporting advertiser experiences and creator ads platform at Snap. They will lead the vision and strategy for next-generation infrastructure, focusing on scalability, performance, and driving advertiser value. They will innovate and conceptualize new advertiser flows and creator marketplace products, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement systems supporting advertiser experiences and creator ads platform
- Lead vision and strategy for next-generation infrastructure
- Innovate and conceptualize new advertiser flows and creator marketplace products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, design, data science, and other engineering teams
- Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
Requirements
- Deep expertise in building and scaling advertiser or creator platforms
- Excellent programming and software design skills
- Proven track record of operating highly-available systems at scale
- Ability to proactively learn new concepts and technology and apply them at work
- Strong collaboration and mentorship skills
- Experience in technical leadership/ownership and setting technical direction for engineering projects
- Experience architecting, designing, and developing distributed systems

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Strong collaboration and mentorship skills
- Experience in technical leadership/ownership and setting technical direction for engineering projects

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's in technical field such as computer science, mathematics, statistics or equivalent years of experience
- 10+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or a Master’s degree in a technical field + 9+ years of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 6+ years of post-grad software development experience
- Experience in technical leadership/ownership and setting technical direction for engineering projects
- Experience architecting, designing, and developing distributed systems

The starting pay for this position in the United States will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
