About the role
The Storage Infrastructure team operates with Exabytes of data in 60+ regions. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) customers rely on our cloud for their businesses, and our mission is to provide industry-leading computing, storage, networking, database, security, and foundational cloud-based services. The team is seeking hands-on engineers with expertise and passion for solving complex problems in distributed systems, large-scale storage, and scaling services to meet future growth.
Responsibilities
- Own the software design and development for major components of the Block Storage Service Infrastructure.
- Be both a rock solid coder and a distributed systems generalist, able to dive deep into any part of the backend stack, as well as design broad distributed system interactions.
- Value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
Qualifications
- 8+ years experience delivering large scale, highly available distributed systems and backend services.
- Extensive experience developing clean code in Java/C++ or similar programming languages and scripting languages such as Python, etc.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, multi-threading and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
- Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized storage infrastructure, data management.
Pay
Hiring Range in USD: $114,600 - $234,600 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

- Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
