Principal Software Engineer

NextGen Federal Systems is seeking Principal Software Engineers with experience supporting Department of War (DoW) and Intelligence Community (IC) programs. Selected candidates will participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including design, development, deployment, and implementation of software products.

About the role

The selected candidates will be part of a development team operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Candidates will develop software using a variety of languages and environments.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including Agile development processes and methodologies.
• Design, develop, deploy, and implement software products.
• Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Apply strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.

• Object-Oriented (OO) Programming with modern development languages.
• Agile software development practices and tools (e.g., Scrum, Jira).
• Modern cloud-computing software and tools, including distributed computing platforms (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Micro-services and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Modern data architectures and tools: Python, MATLAB, IDL, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, NodeJS, C++.
• Frameworks: Angular, Spring Boot, Vue, QT, React.
• Database modeling: OpenSearch Dashboards.
• Algorithm development, database design, UI/UX.
• Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Test-Driven Development Methodologies (JUnit).
• Web and SOA technologies, visualization technologies, image processing, database, and/or geospatial (GIS) technologies.
