Principal Software Engineer
About the role
The High Income and Alternatives Technology team is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in programming fundamentals and software design, with at least 10+ years of hands-on experience in investment management.
Responsibilities
- Develop quality software components for Portfolio Managers and Analysts managing over $100 Billion in High Yield, Credit Alternatives, and Systematic Investment Research Funds.
- Engage, shape, and contribute to the development of Alphabet, Fidelity’s flagship portfolio construction platform.
- Help define and implement development practices, standards, and strategies across multiple teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a quantitative or computational field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics.
- Full-stack software development knowledge, preferably with Angular, Java, Spring Boot.
- Experience with testing software, including writing automated unit, integration, performance, and end-to-end tests.
- Able to effectively communicate with multiple stakeholders including researchers, portfolio managers, and technology partners.
- Favor Agile development practices that prioritize the incremental delivery of working software and respond well to change in requirement scope.
- Ability to accept and adapt to scope changes incorporating it seamlessly.
- Understanding of Fixed Income instruments, security analytics, investment workflow, and functioning of bond markets is a significant plus.
- Experience with AWS cloud environment development and deployment is a plus.
- Kubernetes/EKS deployment and operations management exposure is a plus.
- Progress towards CFA program certification is a significant plus.

- Experience leading development teams through mentorship, technical expertise, and technical excellence.
