About the role
Walmart Global Tech is looking to hire a Principal, Software Engineer (Android) for their Marketplace Engineering team in Sunnyvale, California.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement sophisticated features in Walmart Android applications.
- Work closely with product and design teams to optimize the experience for Android platform.
- Analyze and optimize Android applications.
- Experiment with new technologies and features and build quick prototypes.
- Participate in managing code & configurations for multiple environments, release management process, creating and maintaining environment configuration and controls, code integrity and work closely with platform team.
- Analyzing business requirements, story-boards and similar artifacts of the scrum process, work in an agile development environment with a quick turnaround time and iterative builds.
- Leads the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level design.
- Leads the work of other small groups of three to five engineers.
- Troubleshoots business and production issues.
- Ensures inclusion of business vision and industry trends to enable results that drive business.
- Problem solving and troubleshooting design and development issues and provide appropriate solutions.
- Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical cross-functional teams.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the junior engineers.
- Enforce quality code and follow SOLID principles.
- Knowledge of standard tools for optimizing and testing code.
- A desire to work in a fast-paced and challenging work environment.
- Utilizes industry research to improve Walmart's technology environment.
Requirements
- 14+ years of experience in object-oriented design and software development.
- 14+ years’ experience with Pure native development.
- 6+ years’ experience on Kotlin for Android developer.
- 3+ years’ experience on WebView or Hybrid Mobile application development.
- Understanding of MVVM and clean architecture.
- Shipped one or more Android applications which are still available in the Playstore.
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.
- Technical lead for team.
- Familiarity and comfort with compilers, linkers, build systems, and project configuration.
Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 in Sunnyvale, California US-11656 and $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 in Bentonville, Arkansas US-10735. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
