About the role

The Principal Software Engineer plays a key role in building enterprise applications for F5 Engineering and Operations teams. As a thought leader, you will continually look for ways to improve our solutions, then architect and build data-driven solutions that empower teams across the organization to make better, faster decisions. You will set the technical direction, serve as the key designer for development and implementation of complete software components, drive security and performance standards, and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements analysis and define designs for new tools, as well as enhancements to existing tools and systems.
• Architect and lead the development of scalable and secure back-end and front-end systems.
• Provide technical direction and guide junior engineers.
• Recommend, establish, and maintain technical design methodologies and processes.
• Develop and implement automated testing strategies to improve efficiency.
• Implement and drive best coding practices and design patterns.
• Develop and maintain quality gates for continuous integration and continuous deployment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality project delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expertise in developing cloud-native intelligent analytics solutions.
• Experience with Go, Python, Java, or similar technologies.
• Expertise in building data warehouse analytics solutions.
• Strong background in designing backend SQL/NoSQL databases and performance tuning.
• Experience with front-end technologies like React.
• Familiarity with machine learning models and AI techniques.
• Familiarity with system observability and monitoring.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and developing applications using microservices architecture with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to independently work across team boundaries and own projects.
• Ability to guide team members on technical aspects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Implementation experience with machine learning models and AI techniques for improved decision-making.
• Experience with PromQL, Tableau, or Grafana.

Pay

The annual base pay for this position is $225,600.00 - $338,400.00.
