About the role

The Software Engineer will apply technical expertise in solving complex integration problems and interact with Program Management, external suppliers, and/or government customers. This role requires excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as a security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret.

Responsibilities

  • Containerization and securing of applications
  • Operating System hardening and network security
  • Deploying, automating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving systems and software infrastructure for rapid deployment and maintainability
  • Advising on integration of new emerging industry technologies to the program’s systems
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and incorporating technical requirements into end-to-end system architectures
  • Implementing network configurations as designed and coordinating with peers, SMEs, and government engineers on hardening and securing the system
  • Working with various team members to integrate functionality with other software components
  • Supporting software working groups with the customer
  • Developing and sharing technical documentation and presentations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline (or higher) with relevant software engineering experience:
    • Principal level (T03): 5+ years (Bachelor’s), 3+ years (Master’s), or relevant experience (PhD)
    • Senior Principal level (T04): 8+ years (Bachelor’s), 6+ years (Master’s), or 4+ years (PhD)
  • Current U.S. Government 8570 IAT Level II or greater certification (e.g., Security+)
  • Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite (plugins, Git, Confluence)
  • Experience developing software in Linux and Windows environments
  • Development experience with OOP languages
  • Remote debugging of hardware/software systems
  • Experience with Firewall, VPN, switch, and router configuration
  • Configuration and management of Cisco, Palo Alto, or Juniper network appliances
  • Experience with authentication and data encryption methods, including securing communications at the datalink or network layer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with containerization technologies
  • Experience with net-booting and overlay file systems
  • Experience with virtualization technology (e.g., VirtualBox, QEMU, KVM, vmWare)
  • Experience with scripting (Bash, Python)
  • Experience with Linux IP stack
  • Experience with network security (e.g., SELinux, CIPSO, SECMARK)
  • Experience with multilevel security solutions
  • Experience with Agile best practices and processes (tasking, accountability, interception, process enforcement)
  • U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance

Pay

  • Principal Level (T03) Salary Range: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00
  • Senior Principal Level (T04) Salary Range: $122,800.00 – $184,200.00

The above salary ranges represent general guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
