Principal/Senior Principal Microelectronics Product Engineer

Overview

Northrop Grumman's Microelectronics Center (NGMC) of Mission Systems is seeking a Microelectronics Product Engineer for the Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) located outside Baltimore, Maryland. The ATL semiconductor foundry designs, manufactures, and tests semiconductor products (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide) and develops superconducting electronics for ground-based radars, avionic radars, and space systems. This position can be filled at the Principal or Senior Principal level based on qualifications.

Relocation assistance: may be available. Clearance: Secret clearance required (ability to obtain and maintain); U.S. citizenship required. Travel: up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Serve as product engineering lead for backend (test & assembly) operations
• Generate and maintain product backend trip tickets
• Track and monitor program metrics including delivery and yield
• Resolve technical issues and lead team efforts to drive cost and schedule improvements
• Work closely with program managers, functional engineering staff (product, test, assembly, design, process, quality), and operations
• Serve as engineering point of contact for product-related technical and production issues

Qualifications

Principal Microelectronics Product Engineer — Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or STEM discipline with 5 years experience, OR Master's degree with 3 years experience, OR PhD with 1 year related experience
• Experience with root cause investigations and corrective actions (RCCA)
• Experience leading and implementing Design Changes and Process Changes using industry-standard Change Controls
• General understanding of semiconductor processing
• U.S. citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Senior Principal Microelectronics Product Engineer — Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or STEM discipline with 8 years experience, OR Master's degree with 6 years experience, OR PhD with 3 years related experience
• Experience with root cause investigations and corrective actions (RCCA)
• Experience leading and implementing Design Changes and Process Changes using industry-standard Change Controls
• General understanding of semiconductor processing
• U.S. citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Six Sigma Green Belt certification
• Project Management experience
• Yield enhancement or manufacturing experience including Six Sigma disciplines
• Experience with JMP, Python, Tableau, and/or other programming & data analysis software
• Microelectronics Product ownership experience
• Solid State Physics or other relevant engineering physical science disciplines
• Understanding of analog, digital, and RF device test and characterization techniques
• Familiarity with semiconductor product qualification tests & industry standards
• Currently holding Secret clearance
• Cross-functional experience in Process Engineering or Quality Engineering roles

Pay

Principal Level Salary Range: $108,800 – $163,200 annually

Senior Principal Level Salary Range: $135,800 – $203,600 annually

The above ranges represent general guidelines; base salary offers consider scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
