About the role
A Principal Revenue Security Agent oversees and implements security measures to protect revenue and prevent fraud. They develop and enforce policies and procedures, conduct audits and investigations, and collaborate with internal teams to identify and mitigate potential risks. They also provide training and guidance to staff on revenue security protocols and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Additionally, Principal Revenue Security Agents may work closely with law enforcement agencies and legal teams to address security breaches or fraudulent activities.
Responsibilities
- Administers the Security Key Monitor (SKM) system, controlling access to electronic revenue collection equipment at Bus garages and other Bus locations throughout New Jersey from a secured central control center in Maplewood.
- Installs, controls, inspects, and maintains electronic key boxes state-wide.
- Controls key access; issues and controls PIN numbers to users of keys, and instructs users.
- Controls and installs key box hardware upgrades.
- Initiates, designs, and implements software enhancements.
- Performs audits of Bus revenue collection procedures.
- Performs exact fare revenue transfers.
- Inspects Bus revenue equipment, such as fare boxes, cash boxes, receivers, and bins.
- Reports and recommends corrective actions to top management; follows up to ensure appropriate security and control measures are implemented.
- Investigates and documents instances of possible tampering of locks, cameras, and/or Bus revenue equipment.
- Investigates unauthorized entry into secured revenue locations.
- Debriefs local and/or NJ TRANSIT Police if a crime may have been committed; may represent NJ TRANSIT as a witness in court.
- Performs counterfeit bus pass inspections; enforces adherence to company policies and procedures pertaining to revenue collection in coordination with the Police Department.
- Controls key conversion programs and replaces defective keys and cylinders.
- Safeguards system keys and cylinders inventory on a Zero Error Tolerance basis.
- Controls the certified destruction of obsolete and mutilated keys and cylinders.
- Trains new Revenue Security Agents and provides back-up to the Manager Revenue Security in their absence.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate Degree in Business Administration or related area and four (4) years of applied security or audit experience, or two (2) years of experience with the NJ TRANSIT fare collection system.
- Knowledge of database, word processing, and spreadsheet applications software.
- Basic electronic equipment and communication skills.
- Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs. and travel throughout the state.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and respond to on-call situations 7 days a week/24 hours a day.
