About the role

This role is central to strengthening controllership across the Amazon Advertising organization. As a key accounting partner, you will manage and develop scalable financial controls and processes that simplify monthly reviews, enhance controllership rigor, and enable sustainable growth. You will collaborate with tech, finance, accounting, and business teams to drive long-term strategies, global standardization of metrics and reporting definitions, and new initiatives supporting Amazon Advertising’s mission.

The position requires exceptional accounting skills, strong leadership and people management capabilities, and solid business judgment to drive results in a fast-paced, global environment. You will influence senior business leaders through effective communication, logical reasoning, and the presentation of alternatives while mentoring a high-performing accounting team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate financial reporting as the primary accounting leader for the business area, directly influencing senior leaders.
  • Partner and strategize with business, accounting, finance, and tax stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination, compliance, and scalability.
  • Own critical financial reporting deliverables, including 10-K and 10-Q disclosures, and present key findings to Advertising senior accounting leadership.
  • Drive AI and automation solutions for operational improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with business teams to evaluate new contracts and incentives (ASC 606), championing accounting controllership considerations in new business terms and launches.
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memos under US GAAP, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Lead cross-functional projects including process improvements, controls enhancement, and integration of accounting processes with Amazon systems.
  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and approvals of estimates, presenting conclusions to senior leadership.
  • Execute quarterly reviews and sign-offs on SOX 404 key controls, ensuring a robust internal control framework.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of tax, finance, or a related analytical field experience.
  • 7+ years of finance technology, forecast & budgeting, or other finance-focused competency experience.
  • Experience with Tableau, Python, SQL, Quicksight, Cognos, or other BI packages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or CPA.
  • Experience in a leadership position managing finance, accounting, and operational processes.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is:

  • USA, CA, Culver City: $139,100.00 - $188,200.00 USD annually.
  • USA, MA, Boston: $139,100.00 - $188,200.00 USD annually.
  • USA, OR, Portland: $139,100.00 - $188,200.00 USD annually.
  • USA, TX, Austin: $139,100.00 - $188,200.00 USD annually.
  • USA, VA, Arlington: $139,100.00 - $188,200.00 USD annually.
  • USA, WA, Seattle: $139,100.00 - $188,200.00 USD annually.

Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
