Principal Research Engineer
About the role
Conduct research, analysis, and development of schematic design and embedded software for sensor solutions and service subsystems of banknote and coin authentication and recycling systems. Lead and participate in the research, analysis, and design process to develop new banknote and coin validator sensor technologies, create concept-proofing prototypes, and coordinate their integration during the new product development process.
Evaluate and test hardware systems, schematic diagrams, and embedded source code. Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve firmware and hardware problems.
Requirements
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or foreign educational equivalent, and 5 years of engineering experience in analog and digital electronics design. Of the required experience, must include 5 years in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):
- Applying metrology, instrumentation, and techniques of physical measurements;
- Performing experimental and computer simulation and electronic schematic design analysis;
- Prototyping hardware solutions, including soldering, PCB layout, and assembly techniques;
- Designing embedded systems with emphasis on signal acquisition and processing;
- Programming in an embedded software development environment, including IAR;
- Designing PCBs;
- Simulating electronic design using Matlab and Simulink;
- Writing design documentation, from basic science research descriptions to test plans, user guides, and innovative patent descriptions.
