About the Role

We are currently seeking a Principal Regulatory Scientist for our Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice to be based in our Philadelphia, PA office. Other locations may be considered. In this role, you will work as part of a team providing a high level of project management and Federal and State regulatory and technical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying, pursuing, and securing new client engagements by understanding emerging needs and building long-term partnerships.
  • Maintaining and growing trusted relationships with existing clients by consistently delivering high-quality work, anticipating future needs, and serving as a strategic advisor.
  • Identifying new clients and new business marketing opportunities in related fields.
  • Developing clients through business development and marketing efforts.
  • Client management and project work; interacting directly with clients and regulators.
  • Managing and tracking client projects, project deliverables, invoices, and budgets.
  • Providing regulatory and technical review and quality control support for projects.
  • Synthesizing technical and regulatory information for clients and regulators.
  • Providing scientific technical peer review.
  • Mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in a science-related field.
  • Ten (10) or more years of EPA TSCA regulatory experience with a solid understanding of U.S. EPA TSCA regulations for chemicals.
  • Ten (10) or more years of consulting experience.
  • Proven track record of business generation and attracting new and repeat clients.
  • Outstanding reputation among clients and the scientific community for integrity, responsiveness, and technical expertise.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to independently prepare, edit, and proofread technical and regulatory documents.
  • Detail-oriented, able to work independently, and manage time effectively.
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with project management, budget tracking, and invoicing a plus.
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of product stewardship and sustainability.
  • Solid background in regulatory compliance and risk assessment related to product stewardship and sustainability.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit is a plus.

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above, total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary. The base salary range for this position is depending on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
