About the role
The Surface Radars and Sensors (SR&S) Center within Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) is seeking a Principal Radar Systems Engineer to lead architecture and requirements development activities for Missile Defense System (MDS) radar Modeling and Simulation (M&S) capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and requirements development activities to define, characterize, develop, and document MDS radar M&S capabilities.
- Develop architectural framework updates, system-of-systems functional and performance requirements, detailed algorithm descriptions, test scenario definitions, and verification approaches.
- Conduct requirements analysis and benchmarking to validate algorithm designs, ensuring system-level performance aligns with operational requirements.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience with radar systems or related systems engineering.
- Experience with radar signal processing, signal processing theory, and/or signal modeling.
- Advanced degree in a STEM discipline preferred.
- Experience with radar system concepts, including detection, discrimination, tracking, and signal processing algorithms.
- Expertise in system-level requirements development, documentation, and maintenance.
- Experience designing system-level software architecture.
- Proficiency in developing and coding system models, algorithms, test vectors, and evaluation tools for radar requirements and performance analysis.
- Experience developing, documenting, and maintaining processes, methods, and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab (including object-oriented programming), Python, C/C++, Java, and tools such as DOORS.
- Experience working with Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with customers and leading technical solutions for complex user requirements.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a geographically distributed team.
- Prominent experience collaborating across disciplines and communicating effectively with all organizational levels and stakeholders.
