Principal Radar Backend Electronics Lead
Location: McKinney, TX (onsite)

About the Role
The Multi-Product Power & Digital (MPD) department designs FPGAs, circuit cards, and electronics subassemblies for missiles, radars, and electronic warfare systems. As the Backend Electronics Lead for a multi-mission radar system, you will serve as the primary technical point of contact for development, production, and sustainment of advanced digital receiver exciter (DREX) / radar backend electronics used in Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) multi-mission radars on the Multi-Function Radio Frequency System (MFRFS) Product Line.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with engineering teams, product leads, chief engineers, and program management on planning, execution, prioritization, and status reporting for designated DREX.
- Provide recommendations to the chief engineer on design improvements, technical risks, and overall technical maturation of the DREX.
- Drive resolution of technical issues associated with the DREX.
- Collaborate with the production factory team to optimize the DREX build process, particularly in engineering-specific areas.
- Work with the cross-functional design team to complete development and integration of the next-generation DREX.
- Support the sustainment team and assist subject matter experts in evaluating repaired units for field return.
- Plan and coordinate hardware design efforts.
- Occasional travel may be required to support customers at various sites.
Requirements
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with RF simulation toolsets (e.g., ADS, HFSS, SystemVue).
- Experience with RF testing, including spectrum analyzers and network analyzers.
- Technical leadership experience, including leading the resolution of complex technical challenges.
- Electrical hardware design and development experience, including adherence to design standards.
- Experience with production of new or significantly evolved RF and/or digital modules.
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field.
- Experience with design, development, and production of complex military electronics subsystems, especially mixed-signal CCAs, synthesizers, frequency converters, high-speed processors, and FPGAs.
- Broad-based technical background with the ability to lead complex technical projects.
- Ability to maintain high performance in a dynamic, team-based environment.
- Understanding of latest technology trends in microprocessors, memory, FPGAs, and interface protocols.
- Experience assimilating inputs from multiple sources to derive design and operational requirements, developing architectures, and implementing designs.
- Experience performing analysis and testing of modules/sub-systems in a laboratory setting.
- Digital, analog, and/or RF testing and debugging of complex circuit card assemblies (CCAs) or electro-mechanical systems.
- Understanding of CCA design and manufacturing.
- Subcontract management experience.
- Collaboration with Global Supply Chain and Mission Assurance to resolve supplier quality, lead time, and manufacturability issues.
- Proposal writing and cost estimation experience.
- Experience developing and maintaining complex integrated master schedules.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels, and RTX considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills when extending an offer.
