Principal Product Manager, AI agents - Search

About the role

Elastic is seeking a Principal Product Manager to guide the vision, strategy, and execution for the Elastic Agent Builder. This role focuses on building the critical context layer that enables enterprises to create AI agents faster, at lower cost, and with greater accuracy. You will define how organizations build, manage, and scale context for AI agents, working at the cutting edge of the AI ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Work directly with enterprise customers, sales teams, and solution architects to understand requirements and prioritize product needs
• Build and align a roadmap for core context engineering capabilities on top of Elastic's retrieval and relevance for AI Agents
• Deeply understand the AI Agent market, major players, and trends impacting strategy
• Collaborate with data science and engineering to develop benchmarking and evaluation strategies for agent capabilities
• Work with design to create user experiences for agents to show and refine context
• Evangelize Agent Builder capabilities through blog posts and open source projects
• Partner with a broad ecosystem including cloud service providers (Google, Amazon, Microsoft) and community developers

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years in product management or solution delivery for technical, cloud infrastructure, or platform products; proven track record of leading data-intensive products from inception through launch and growth
• AI/ML Fluency: Deep technical understanding of LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases, and context engineering; comfortable working closely with engineers and data scientists
• Bias to Action: Ability to move fast, learn from experiments, and use AI tools to accelerate processes
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead across matrixed organizations, align stakeholders, and drive execution in a remote-first environment
• Communication: Outstanding spoken and written skills; ability to distill complex engineering details for technical and non-technical audiences
• Customer Obsession: Passion for industry trends and solving real-world customer problems; advocate for developer persona

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $159,800 - $252,800 USD (typical); $191,900 - $303,500 USD in select locations (Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, New York City Metro)
• This role does not have variable compensation; compensation is base salary only. Position eligible for Elastic's stock program and company-matched 401k (dollar-for-dollar up to 6% of eligible earnings).
• Additional benefits include health coverage, flexible schedules, generous vacation, up to $2,000 matching for charitable donations, 40 hours/year volunteer time, and minimum 16 weeks parental leave.
