Principal Product Engineer
Job Summary
Hiive is redefining how private companies and their shareholders access liquidity. As a Principal Product Engineer, you will lead a team of engineers to deliver high-quality releases on time, leveraging AI tools and techniques to enhance development velocity, code quality, and decision-making.
About the Role
You will be a primary, hands-on contributor to the product development process, directing the efforts of engineers on your team and championing the adoption of AI technologies in the development lifecycle. You will also be responsible for evaluating possible technical implementations and consulting with leadership on decision making, conducting code reviews, and advocating for best practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead small cross-functional teams of engineers to deliver high-quality releases on time.
- Hands-on development of one or more of Typescript, React, and Elixir.
- Software architecture top-down across your team's functional area.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to enhance engineering productivity, code quality, and team velocity.
- Evaluate possible technical implementations and consult with leadership on decision making.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure the team is shipping complete features and producing quality code.
- Advocate for best practices and iterate on internal processes to empower the engineering team to produce top-notch work.
- Assist in the hiring process of a growing engineering team.
- Mentor to help the rest of the team grow their skills.
- Comfortable working in a small company, including directly with the founders on building a product and a company.
- Adapt well to a quickly moving environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.
- Substantial expertise building frontend with React and Typescript or backend systems with Elixir and Phoenix.
- Previous experience working with relational databases.
- Previous experience working with Typescript and GraphQL.
- Previous experience working with DevOps (infrastructure and deployments).
- Experience building GraphQL APIs with Apollo Client and Absinthe.
- Experience with Vercel and Next.js.
- Understanding of Postgres databases design and optimization.
- DevOps know-how, specifically deploying and configuring AWS services and Kubernetes with Terraform.
