Overview
Join us in leading the change! EPE is looking to recruit a Principal or Senior Principal Engineer with a background in Generation and Load Interconnection, and Transmission Planning for the Western Interconnection region (WECC).
Responsibilities
- Perform complex interconnection studies including load flow, short circuit and transient stability across multiple ISOs and Utilities in the Western Interconnected region (WECC).
- Review ISO and/or Utility interconnection study results, replicate findings and identify errors or alternative mitigations that could impact assigned network upgrades.
- Support generation, large load and merchant transmission developers navigate interconnection processes across the Western Interconnected System.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on interconnection related studies and stay up to date with industry trends and regulatory changes.
- Passionate about solving difficult technical problems, providing innovative solutions and taking ownership of the solutions provided.
- Develop net new and enhance existing relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, industry organizations, and regulatory agencies.
- Support the development of new products and services
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience in the electric energy industry.
- Experience in IBR modelling, transmission planning and/or interconnection studies.
- Strong understanding of FERC, NERC and ISO interconnection requirements and standards.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one but preferably several of the following software packages:PSLF, PowerWorld, PSSE, PSCAD, TARA and ASPEN.
- Experience in managing and mentoring technical teams.
- Active participation in industry taskforces and/or working groups.
