Principal Political & Data Strategist
Our flagship political and advocacy client needs a single-threaded relationship owner who blends political consulting, data analytics, and client delivery. This role is not a traditional analyst or account manager; it sits at the intersection of strategy and data, ensuring every commitment lands on time and with political impact.
About the Team
You will join a dynamic team that partners with Analytics, data management, and development to deliver political consulting and analytical products. This role was created to establish clear ownership and reduce latency, ensuring our most important political client receives strategic depth, responsiveness, and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Own the political/advocacy client relationship end-to-end, including expectations, priorities, satisfaction, and trust. Act as the primary thought partner integrating political acumen, analytics inputs, and strategic context into client-facing guidance.
- Set client-facing priorities and deadlines for political deliverables, defining "done" from a client value perspective to ensure deliverables meet expectations for insight and relevance.
- Translate client needs into clear analytical and strategic asks for internal teams, synthesizing inputs from Analytics and other capabilities into actionable political guidance for campaign managers, strategists, and committees.
- Proactively identify gaps, risks, and opportunities in the client's political strategy, offering concrete recommendations based on campaign cycles, voter behavior, turnout modeling, persuasion targeting, and political geography.
- Be accountable for on-time, high-quality delivery of all political and analytical outputs, tracking progress and intervening early when risks arise.
- Set sequencing, timelines, and prioritization for client work across cross-functional teams. Resolve conflicts through direct tradeoff discussions and escalate unresolved issues within 24 hours when client commitments are at risk.
- Collaborate with functional leaders in Analytics, data engineering, and modeling while owning prioritization, delivery deadlines, and client-facing coordination.
- Communicate complex political and analytical insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including campaign staff, candidates, advocacy organizations, and political committees.
Requirements
- Experience owning high-stakes client relationships in political consulting, campaign strategy, public affairs, or political data and analytics.
- Experience translating between political grassroots strategy and data analytics.
- Experience working in a cross-functional environment where you drove outcomes through influence, coordination, and prioritization rather than direct authority.
- Experience managing multiple workstreams and meeting tight deadlines, particularly during fast-paced campaign cycles.
- Experience communicating data-driven political insights to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, including campaign managers, candidates, and political committees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political Science, Statistics, Data Science, Public Policy, or related disciplines.
- Experience working in or with organizations in the center-right political ecosystem, including campaigns, PACs, advocacy organizations, or political data firms.
- Familiarity with voter file data, predictive modeling, audience segmentation, or similar political data products.
- Experience using business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI to interpret and present political data to clients and stakeholders.
- Experience with voter behavior analysis, turnout modeling, persuasion targeting, media placement strategy, field resource allocation, or voter contact optimization.
Pay
For this role, we anticipate paying $180,000–$230,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage, including flexible spending and health savings accounts.
- Life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (ADD), and disability insurance.
- Retirement plans with company contributions.
- Paid vacation and time off.
