Responsibilities
- Own the design for distributing laser light to calibration ports in photonic chips
- Analyze optical power needs for system calibration performance
- Create methods for calibration in large quantum systems
- Select and specify optical signal detection and readout architecture
- Guide electronics design for laser control and detector outputs
- Evaluate design trade-offs focusing on power and cost efficiency
- Collaborate with teams to improve calibration workflows and hardware integration
Qualifications
- Deep understanding of continuous wave (CW) and pulsed lasers
- Expertise in fiber amplifiers and optical distribution systems
- Proficient in phase noise analysis and noise figure evaluation
- Knowledge of fiber polarization control and optical system performance
- Experience with integrated and discrete photonics designs
- Ability to design hardware for production-ready environments
- Strong communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills
- Independent and possesses strong engineering judgment
