Job Summary

Magnendo is developing robotic technology to improve stroke treatment by making endovascular procedures faster, safer, and more accessible. We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the design and development of our perception software, which includes real-time and non-real-time systems, 3D sensing, and medical imaging.

About the Role

Join us in shaping the future of endovascular intervention. This role involves leading the development of perception software that integrates with motion planning, systems, and hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration and robust performance.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture, implementation, and system documentation of perception software, including medical image processing and 3D reconstruction using deep-learning and classical computer vision techniques.
  • Work with algorithms engineers and third-party contractors to validate and deploy perception systems from proof-of-concept to production.
  • Develop flexible and modular architecture and interfaces for subsystem migration from prototype to medical-grade production software, including comprehensive unit and integration tests.
  • Collaborate with motion planning, systems, and hardware engineers to integrate perception into the broader system.
  • Define and document a software development process that combines modern high-reliability software development practices with a regulatory v-model framework.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to other engineers in your domain.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience in systems and infrastructure software engineering with strong fundamentals and demonstrated ability to deliver the types of software described above for deployed edge compute platforms.
  • Experienced with production software development in an environment with high reliability requirements, preferably under a regulatory regime.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and/or Python, with a firm grasp of real-time performance considerations, memory management, and software design patterns.
  • Proficient with Python, C++, Linux, GIT.
  • Bonus points for experience with medical or surgical imaging, medical device industry, 3D sensing hardware, and sensor fusion, and experience deploying ML models on embedded or real-time systems.

Qualifications

  • A good collaborator who understands the importance of clear communication and humility, able to clearly convey complex tradeoffs to cross-functional teams and external partners.

Skills

  • Experience developing software under a regulatory framework such as medical device (e.g., IEC 62304, IEC 60601), functional safety (IEC 61508, ISO 13849), or automotive (ISO 26262).

Benefits

Magnendo Corp. is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applications without regard to any characteristic protected by applicable law. We also participate in E-Verify. Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of employment authorization verification (Form I-9) after hire.
