Principal Nuclear Safety Analyst
Information Systems Laboratories, Inc. (ISL) is an employee-owned technology-development company specializing in comprehensive support for the nuclear and space industries, including nuclear safety analysis, complex modeling & simulation, software development, regulatory frameworks, waste management, risk management, and cyber security.
About the role
The Principal Engineer will work alongside safety analysis experts performing a mix of research and development and customer contract work. Customers are primarily advanced reactor and fuel vendors requiring ISL’s expertise to meet licensing requirements of the U.S. NRC or DOE. The role involves modeling and simulation of system and core thermal-hydraulics, nuclear physics, fuel performance, and radiological consequences using tools such as RELAP5-3D, TRACE, VIPRE-01, MCNP, SCALE, PARCS, FAST, and RADTRAD.
Responsibilities include hazard analysis, safety basis event identification, model and simulation development, transient analyses, and safety basis documentation for existing LWR, SMR, and advanced reactor designs. The position also involves writing technical reports, white papers, creating presentations, and communicating ideas, problems, and solutions. Opportunities to advance the state-of-the-art, publish research, present at conferences, and develop industry contacts are available.
