Principal ML Scientist

About the role

The role of Principal AI/ML Scientist at GoDaddy involves architecting and scaling AI/ML systems to power various customer-facing experiences. This includes designing and implementing AI/ML platforms, defining technical strategy, and leading the development of Agentic AI solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect and scale Generative AI, Agentic AI, personalization, and recommendation systems serving millions of customers globally.
• Design and implement end-to-end AI/ML platforms including data pipelines, model training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and governance.
• Lead development of Agentic AI solutions capable of autonomous reasoning, decision making, and action within customer-facing experiences.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Data, and Analytics teams to translate complex business challenges into scalable AI-powered solutions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and deploying large-scale AI/ML systems in technology, SaaS, or consumer-focused environments.
• Proven expertise developing customer-facing Agentic AI applications, LLM-powered solutions, and intelligent automation systems.
• Strong experience with recommendation systems, personalization platforms, ranking models, predictive modeling, and experimentation frameworks.
• Deep knowledge of modern AI/ML frameworks, cloud platforms, distributed systems, software engineering best practices, and MLOps.
• Hands-on proficiency with Python and AI development ecosystems, including familiarity with Claude Code and AI-assisted software development workflows.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience designing and evaluating production-grade LLM, RAG, multi-agent, and orchestration architectures.
• Experience building AI platforms supporting observability, governance, responsible AI, security, and compliance requirements.
• Track record influencing architecture and technical strategy across multiple organizations without direct authority.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and scientists through architecture reviews, design guidance, and technical leadership.

Pay

The estimated pay ranges for this role are listed below. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other forms of compensation, which may include a corporate bonus and/or equity awards, subject to the terms of applicable plans and individual eligibility.

USDAustin, D.C. Metro, CA (non-Bay Area), HI, IL, MA, NH, OR, VA, WA: $185,500—$278,500 USD
New York City Metro, Kirkland/Seattle: $197,200—$295,800 USD
All other US locations not previously listed: $165,500—$248,500 USD
