Principal Mechanical Engineer

Carrier Global Corporation, global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, is seeking a visionary Lead HVAC/R Modeling Engineer to drive the design and optimization of their next-generation systems. This role requires a technical expert who can translate complex data into real-world performance and mentor the next generation of engineering talent.
Responsibilities
- Champion the Tech: Act as the lead technical authority and mentor for all HVAC/R modeling activities, elevating the capabilities of the entire engineering team.
- Architect the Future: Collaborate closely on system architecture analysis, ensuring our designs are robust, innovative, and scalable.
- Drive Excellence: Develop detailed, high-performance system designs that consistently hit and exceed our critical KPIs.
What You’ll Do
- Advanced Simulation: Model complex sub-systems, components, and full-scale HVAC/R systems from the ground up.
- Data Validation: Bridge the gap between theory and reality by developing physics-based models and validating them against rigorous real-world test data.
- Cross-Functional Deployment: Deploy cutting-edge component and system studies across a diverse portfolio of HVAC/R applications.
- Continuous Optimization: Refine and perfect thermal, electrical, and mechanical system interactions to maximize efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree with 7 + years of professional hands-on experience in HVAC/R system modeling and simulation OR
- Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of professional hands-on experience in HVAC/R system modeling and simulation
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors or Master in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Thermal Engineering; Extensive experience designing and modeling HVAC/R systems for commercial, industrial, transportation, or off-highway applications; Deep expertise in refrigeration cycles and vapor compression systems; Experience integrating thermal, electrical, refrigeration, and engine/powertrain systems; Experience with system architecture development and trade-off analysis; Proven technical leadership experience leading complex engineering projects; Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers; Knowledge of controls, system optimization, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE); Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to HVAC/R systems; Experience working in new product development from concept through validation and production; Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills; Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), optimization techniques, and data analytics for system performance improvement.
Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $117,500.00 - $234,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
