Principal Infrastructure Engineer

About the Role
The Infrastructure Principal Engineer will work with the Infrastructure Team Lead responsible for global configuration management and task execution across multiple locations and compliance environments. This role supports various infrastructure and compute requirements across multiple locations, with expertise in building and maintaining infrastructure platforms based on technologies such as VMWare, Linux, and Windows. The ideal candidate will embody eagerness to create and own processes for enhancing the team and streamlining operations.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain functional systems and private cloud platforms as a member of the corporate infrastructure team supporting custom applications and DevOps processes
- Resolve issues escalated by lower service desk tiers by troubleshooting deployed, cloud, and local infrastructure
- Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
- Mentor team members on technical issues
- Create, oversee, and test security measures (e.g., access authentication and disaster recovery)
- Communicate with users to design and field optimal solutions
- Design and implement solutions to deliver superior system performance, capacity, and scalability
- Maintain complete technical documentation in support of Authorization To Operate (ATO) packages
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 5+ years actively deploying and/or maintaining technologies such as VMWare, Linux, Windows, OpenShift, or Kubernetes
- 10+ years of total professional experience
- Excellent organizational and mentoring skills
- Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
- An active DoD Secret security clearance or higher
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of team lead experience
- Security+ Certification
- Experience managing storage appliances
- Linux, VMWare, OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Windows Certifications

Pay
The pay range for this position is $149,000 - $184,000 per year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
