About the role

Arcadis seeks a Principal Industrial Water/Wastewater Consultant to join the Industrial Water Treatment and Optimization (IWTO) team as a “seller/doer”. This heavily client-facing technical position will be key to our growth in the Oil and Gas sector in the Gulf Coast, as well as the rest of the US.

The role is split approximately 50% between business development ("selling") and technical execution ("doing"). As a seller, you will engage with clients, assess their needs, create opportunities, and lead proposal preparation. As a doer, you will undertake conceptual and detailed process design for industrial water and wastewater treatment projects, serving as a subject matter expert with deep technical acumen.

This is a client-facing role with an expectation to collaborate with various Arcadis locations to support projects and client development in the US and globally.

Responsibilities

  • Support Arcadis’ industrial water growth in the Gulf Coast and broader US, lead business development activities to increase project wins and develop long-lasting client relationships.
  • Routine business development tasks:
    • Reach out to your client network regularly to stay connected and assess opportunities.
    • Lead pursuits and development of proposals, client meetings, and interviews.
    • Work directly with clients to determine needs and provide solutions.
    • Engage with Arcadis’ regional, national, and global client account teams.
    • Support the expansion of business development opportunities and client relationships to strategically grow Arcadis’ industrial water/wastewater portfolio.
    • Leverage existing and new client relationships.
    • Prepare abstracts and technical papers.
  • Serve as an Oil and Gas wastewater treatment subject matter expert and support the development of the Industrial Water process team within the sector.
  • Lead projects and clients in the planning, design, and construction of industrial water/wastewater treatment plants and wastewater recycle plants.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplined engineering teams and serve as Subject Matter Expert for complex engineering designs while collaborating with other design disciplines.
  • Routine technical tasks:
    • Provide direction and review for design basis documents, engineering calculations (including mass and energy balances), and engineering drawings (P&IDs and Layout).
    • Develop specifications for treatment equipment, instrumentation, and controls.
    • Provide direction and review for engineering reports and feasibility studies.
    • Conduct quality reviews.
  • Manage technical coordination and leadership roles on larger or complex projects or projects with higher associated risk.
  • Lead knowledge transfer and development of staff within your area of expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study (preferred).
  • 20+ years of industrial water/wastewater treatment experience.
  • Held prior roles across engineering, project management, sustainability, sales, marketing, and technology.
  • Knowledge and experience with industrial clients in North America.
  • Strong experience in developing and leading large industrial wastewater capital projects.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer License (preferred).
  • Knowledge and experience with multinational industrial clients (preferred).
  • Previous experience in a regional or national role and collaboration across regional teams (preferred).

Pay

The salary range for this position is $124,700 - $187,050. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
