About the Role

This role is performed full-time onsite at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time due to the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and the requirement to perform all work onsite. You will be providing technical support to the Manufacturing Operations microelectronics packaging team, enabling and improving the flow of product through manufacturing using industrial and mechanical engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to the microelectronics packaging group for processes and materials.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and perform Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis.
  • Conduct data analysis and process improvement in manufacturing areas.
  • Support new manufacturing technologies and equipment selection.
  • Create and execute future roadmaps for the microelectronics packaging area.
  • Perform capacity and capability analysis for the manufacturing area.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on microelectronics packaging processes and materials for the Cedar Rapids Facility.
  • Define and solve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Interface with design engineering to incorporate changes that improve manufacturability.
  • Determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow to maximize utilization of production facilities and personnel.
  • Conduct studies on cost control, cost reduction, and inventory control using Lean principles.
  • Apply standard engineering economics and product development principles and techniques.
  • Maintain awareness of the technological state-of-the-art and the company’s competitive position in microelectronics.
  • Consider how facility design and layout affect economic factors, process flow, operator efficiency, and comfort.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
  • 10+ years of work experience.
  • 5+ years of direct microelectronics experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Level Security Clearance.

Preferred Skills

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of microelectronics industry standards.
  • Experience with lithography, plating, flip chip, SMT, and wafer-level packaging.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and evaluation of new designs for DFM.
  • Knowledge of failure analysis equipment and techniques (e.g., SIR, FTIR, SEM, X-ray).
  • Materials science background or knowledge.
  • Programming and troubleshooting automated equipment.
  • Capital equipment specification, purchase, and integration.
  • Tool and fixture design.
  • Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Cpk capability studies, Gage R&R, and data analysis.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $105,254 – $178,931. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
