Principal Incoming Material Quality & Reliability Engineer
About the role
As a Principal Incoming Material Quality Engineer at TSMC Washington, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all materials used for product manufacturing comply with quality requirements. You will also build strong relationships with suppliers to improve their quality capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Implement the system to manage incoming materials including daily material gating, OCAP, documentation, coordination with other parties.
- Communicate with vendors to ensure quality requirements are met.
- Audit and coach suppliers to improve their quality systems.
- Collaborate with internal departments to identify requirements, assess risks, and build systems.
- Act as a subject matter expert for materials and chemistry, performing research for new materials and problem analysis.
- Support business continuity activities to identify and prioritize risks, identify alternative sources, and work with owners to qualify.
- Follow problem solving processes to identify root causes and applicable actions for non-conformances from both internal and external sources.
- Perform supplier audits to ISO9001 and, as applicable, IATF16949.
- Ensure records are maintained and identify and implement validating self-audit practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related physical science discipline.
- 8 -12 years of experience with IC manufacturing a plus.
- Knowledge of AI, SQL, VBA, and Oracle, or similar, is a plus.
Qualifications
- Fluency with Microsoft office programs including Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel including macros.
- Efficient data handling and analysis capability in excel including formulas, and pivot tables.
- Ability to work with AI tools.
Skills
- Process approach to ensure direct and indirect production materials and chemicals meet requirements before release to production.
- Supplier audits to ISO9001 and, as applicable, IATF16949.
- Knowledge of ISO14001 and QC080000 a plus.
- Quality concepts and tools including a process approach, risk management including FMEA, control plan, MSA, calibration, SPC, OCAP, 8D/DMAIC, DOE, 3-leg/5-why.
- Familiarity with chemical analysis methods including ICPMS, GFAA, IC, and Auto-titrator, FTIR.
- Familiarity with data systems to the extent of defining requirements for IT, and the ability to validate systems meet requirements.
- Knowledge of SQL, VBA, and Oracle, or similar, is a plus.

Pay
The starting salary typically ranges between $108,500 and $156,729 per year. The full salary range for this Job Grade extends from $108,500 - $172,895 depending on factors such as skills, qualifications, education, experience, tenure, and position level.
Schedule
This position operates on-site at our Camas, Washington location during core business hours, Monday through Friday 8 am – 5 pm; however, there may be occasions when additional hours are necessary to meet project demands.
