About the role
The Principal-in-Residence (PIR) position at Jubilee Academies is designed to prepare aspiring principals in adaptive, instructional, and managerial skills to lead a campus as a Principal. PIRs are full-time members of their campus leadership teams and have daily opportunities to practice essential skills and competencies.
Responsibilities
- Participates in parent meetings and conferences, acting as an intermediary between parents, teachers, and students to address a variety of needs or issues.
- Engages all stakeholders in creating and refining the campus' mission, vision, and lasting leadership values.
- Oversees campus practices and policies that set high expectations for student success, focusing on college and career readiness and post-secondary success.
- Conducts regular campus climate surveys to assess and measure progress on student and staff experiences.
- Fosters positive relationships with the community through participation in various activities and interactions with PTA, community organizations, and leaders.
- Facilitates opportunities for students to connect with staff and ensures they are present and available during arrival and dismissal, at school functions, and during meetings.
- Enforces disciplinary policies and procedures with students.
- Provides training and ongoing support to teachers to establish and maintain a strong classroom culture, including setting behavioral expectations, establishing routines and procedures, and building strong relationships.
- Collaborates with other principals and educators to choose and develop curriculum and textbooks aligned with local, state, and national standards.
- Coordinates staff development for faculty and staff, providing instruction if necessary.
- Trains teacher leaders in adult learning facilitation and team dynamics.
- Ensures high-quality instructional materials are consistently used across classrooms, including resources designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities and English learners, along with other student groups with diverse needs.
- Trains and supports teachers in the effective use of high-quality instructional materials and research-based teaching practices that promote critical thinking skills and include differentiated and scaffolded supports for students with disabilities, English learners, and other student groups.
- Skilled in content and pedagogy, demonstrated through quantitative and qualitative data, and successful in using data to drive instruction.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Master's in Education preferred.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience.
- Valid Texas Mid-Management / Principal Certification preferred.
- At least 2 years of Assistant Principal or equivalent campus-level leadership experience.

- Effective instructional leadership, including choosing and developing curriculum, coordinating staff development, and ensuring high-quality instructional materials are used.
- Excellent human assets and hiring skills, including ensuring clear roles and responsibilities, implementing recruitment strategies, and supporting staff retention.
- Technological fluency, including proficiency with Google Suite or similar software, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to facilitate professional development and coaching.
