As a Bioinformatics Software Engineer, you will design and develop automated verification tests for the bioinformatics components and pipelines that are used in Roche Sequencing products. You will be part of the team developing cutting-edge, distributed, scale-out Next-Generation Sequencing data analysis software to ensure the highest possible software quality for gene sequencing research and disease diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with research and algorithm experts, accelerating bioinformatics techniques using GPU hardware.
• Support software development lifecycle and Design Control process, working closely with team members to continuously improve quality and feature sets of the software products, based on technical design and requirements specifications.
• Design, document, and execute verification tests for bioinformatics components and pipelines.
• Continuously improve the quality and feature sets of software products in collaboration with team members.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. or PhD in Software Engineering, Data Science, Computational Biology, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) using C++ and practical experience utilizing GPU-accelerated C/C++ libraries.
• Strong expertise in Python, including numerical computing and data science libraries.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and concepts.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented, analytical, and proven ability to learn quickly.
• Team player with excellent interdisciplinary collaboration skills and a customer-focused mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• NGS data and bioinformatics pipeline verification experience.
• Proficiency in AWS and Linux Shell environments.
• Software verification experience focusing on medical device software or regulated applications.

Pay

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $165,800 - $308,000 annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
