About the role

Kleinfelder, a Forbes' Top Employer for Engineers in North America, is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer/Group Manager to lead the geotechnical team in Fresno, CA. The ideal candidate will manage and grow the Fresno geotechnical team, lead business development, and coordinate services with internal and external teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow the Fresno geotechnical team
  • Lead business development and proposal preparation
  • Coordinate services with internal and external teams
  • Provide operational support and supervisor duties
  • Perform geotechnical engineering design, construction support, and oversight
  • Ensure high client service by providing constructible designs, responding to client needs, and meeting deadlines

Requirements

  • 12+ years of related experience, 15+ years preferred
  • Licensed professional civil engineer (PE) in California
  • Proven experience in business development, proposal preparation, owner/teaming relationships, and technical aspects of large pursuits
  • Proven experience leading diverse project teams
  • Proven experience managing and mentoring staff
  • Proven experience being a trusted advisor to clients of all sizes
  • Proven experience assisting clients from design through construction
  • Proven experience in geotechnical levee design, seepage analysis, slope stability, shallow, mat, and deep foundations, and retaining walls
  • Proven experience providing construction support as geotechnical engineer of record
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering strongly desired

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Licensed geotechnical engineer (GE) in California
  • Recognized leader in the field
  • Develops highly motivated individuals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience planning, implementing, and managing geotechnical exploration programs
  • Guides staff engineers in performing material and site characterization, foundation recommendations, slope stability, and settlement analyses
  • Prepares geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications for foundations and earthwork for a wide range of projects
  • Supports project managers in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks
  • Prepares and presents technical presentations to clients and technical review boards
  • Supervises field observation, testing, and performs site visits
  • Proactively troubleshoots and solves problems with practical, client-focused solutions
  • Collaborates with civil design team to develop and value-engineer practical, fit-for-use geotechnical engineering solutions
  • Organizes priorities and multi-tasks effectively
  • Collaborates with Area leadership and Project Managers to resource delivery effectively
  • Possesses a thirst to learn and achieve continuous improvement in a team environment

Pay

The expected salary range for the position is $133,494 - $227,531. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
