Principal Faculty - Clinical

About the Role

The Principal Faculty - Clinical serves in the clinical education portion of the PA program in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Education. The position contributes to the development, scheduling, and evaluation of supervised clinical practice experience (SCPE) sites, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards, program outcomes, and competencies. Maintains clinical site relationships, oversees student progress, addresses concerns, coordinates schedules and compliance, conducts site visits, and supports students and preceptors during the clinical phase.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and oversees clinical clerkships, including scheduling, site acquisition, and preceptor recruitment.
• Maintains relationships and contracts with clinical affiliates, monitors site quality, and ensures accreditation compliance.
• Manages clinical curriculum evaluation, databases, and student performance tracking, providing remediation as needed.
• Organizes student orientations, return-to-campus activities, and site visits, collaborating with faculty and leadership to support student success and program outcomes.
• Contributes to curriculum design, instructional materials, and learning objectives for didactic instruction.
• Supports program evaluation, recordkeeping, and data analysis for accreditation or reporting.
• Teaches assigned didactic courses, assesses student performance, and provides remediation when needed.
• Actively participates in lab sessions, practical examinations, skills courses, and small groups.
• Participates in the development, review, and revision of the program’s mission statement, goals, and competencies.
• Engages in the ongoing ARC-PA self-assessment process, accreditation activities, meetings, and on-site evaluations.
• Engages in teaching, scholarship, and service activities as defined in the Faculty Manual (24 credit hours or equivalent per academic year).
• Develops proficiency in programmatic systems such as CANVAS, CASPA, Exxat, PAEA, and ExamSoft.
• Serves as an ambassador for the PA Program through participation in service activities of the University and PA Program.
• Participates in the identification, recruitment, and selection of qualified applicants.
• Identifies sources for and participates in the preparation and implementation of grants and contracts.
• Serves on University and PA Program faculty committees as appointed or elected.
• Attends and participates in required university activities such as graduation, faculty development sessions, assessment day, and faculty committee work.
• Attends and participates in Departmental meetings and annual retreats.
• Attends and participates in program activities such as Information Sessions, Admissions activities, White Coat Ceremony, PA Graduation, and external committee obligations.
• Participates in the search process activities of the University and PA Program.
• Participates in NEASC accreditation activities as assigned.
• Participates in local, state, and national professional organizations for professional development and program excellence.
• Performs other duties assigned by the University and Program.

Requirements

• Current NCCPA certification.
• Current state licensure.
• A minimum of three years clinical experience.
• Master’s Degree required.
• Higher Education experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines efficiently.
• Strong computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must successfully pass the online Defensive Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter.
• General knowledge of the University’s mission, purpose, and goals.
