Principal Estimator

Responsibilities

• Proactively sets priorities related to complex situations having multi-project and/or organizational impact.
• Contributes to technical work rather than managerial tasks.
• Makes self-initiated interactions with supervisor and provides technical guidance.
• Influences work assignments and reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
• Plans, controls, and reports on project work.
• May have direct reports and makes recommendations concerning staff selection, training, rating, and discipline.
• Provides technical guidance to staff and may assign work.
• Utilizes advanced understanding of systems, processes, and tools related to field.
• Aids in troubleshooting issues and assists others.
• Assists in the development of new systems, processes, and tools.
• Ensures adherence to the preparation and/or supervision of cost estimates in accordance with approved procedures during various project phases including Pre-FEED and FEED.
• Supports the development of estimating standards, procedures, and systems for the estimating of tenders and proposals.
• Provides cost estimating guidance to projects.

Requirements

• Thorough technical and practical estimating skills.
• Able to consistently deliver quality, accurate, and timely work to Worley and its customers.
• Knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline and the basic requirements of other disciplines.
• Knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Highly competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and discipline-specific software and tools.
• Thorough technical, practical, and leadership experience in the relevant discipline, including experience in project engineering and management with specialized estimating expertise.
• An understanding of project planning and scheduling experience and demonstrable leadership in working with a multi-disciplinary team in large-scale projects.
• Indirect estimating and staffing plan development experience.
• Preferred local candidates in Houston and Baton Rouge.
• Postgraduate qualifications in the relevant discipline; management or supervisory qualifications or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Previous LNG and major project experience leading a group of estimators.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to deal with challenging situations.
• Strong understanding of contractual and subcontract language and evaluation.
• Ability to work 60+ hour workweeks, weekends, and holidays in the office 100% of the time.
• Aspen Capital Cost Estimator and Cleopatra previous estimating experience.
• Previous project control and cost report creation experience.
