Principal Engineer, Transmission System Planning (Hybrid Schedule)
About the role
The Principal Engineer serves as a technical specialist to transmission planning, applying advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes. They lead, perform reliability and/or strategic scenario-based planning driven studies under various existing and forecast system conditions, including voltage, thermal, PV, transfer limit, short circuit, electromagnetic transient, and stability assessments. The role involves contributing sound engineering input to develop robust, reliable, low-cost solutions, exchanging results, and conducting critical reviews of data and assumptions from regional and industry stakeholders. They interface with ISO-New England, area transmission owners, and Eversource departments to understand and mitigate electric system needs, challenges, and enable reliable future growth. The role also involves documenting and communicating results and recommendations, collaborating with cross-functional groups to develop long-range planning criteria for integrating and enabling new technologies, and preparing documentation and testimony in support of regulatory filings.
