Principal Engineer-Systems Design

Microchip’s Frequency and Timing Systems business unit is a world leader in precise time solutions, setting the global standard for time. Our VOP group in Mount Holly Springs, PA specializes in Quartz Precision Oscillators and Frequency Control Solutions. We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our onsite team.
Responsibilities
- Design ownership of an entire project, from concept to production release, including conceptual design, electrical/thermal/mechanical simulations, schematic capture to drive PCB design, prototype evaluation, and release to manufacturing with supporting documentation.
- Design oscillators and related products to be used in harsh shock and vibration environments.
- Support other functional groups including reliability engineering, process engineering, and quality during and after product development.
Requirements
- US Person (US citizenship, Permanent US residency, or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3)).
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years design experience in the RF electronics industry.
- Knowledge of RF circuits, oscillator circuits, control loops, PLL circuits, and related components.
- Knowledge of military standards (MIL-STD-202, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-810).
- Ability to use simulation tools for circuit design, mechanical design, and thermal design.
- Ability to use lab measurement equipment such as network analyzer, phase noise analyzer, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, and environmental equipment like shock and vibration tables.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Self-driven to lead and complete projects within established commitment times.
- Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with cross-functional teams.

Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is $75,000–$232,000, dependent on job location, skills, and experience. Microchip offers a total compensation package that includes competitive base pay, restricted stock units, quarterly bonus payments, health benefits beginning day one, retirement savings plans, and an industry-leading ESPP program with a 2-year look-back feature.
