About the role

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Buffalo, New York. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Supplier Performance Management department, working in a dynamic, people-focused environment interacting with Global Supply Chain professionals, other engineering disciplines, and suppliers. This role supports the development and production of state-of-the-art Simulation Systems solutions for national security and non-defense applications.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Supplier Quality risk management.
  • Develops and implements supplier quality evaluation and control systems.
  • Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance.
  • Performs Specification/Drawing Compliance Reviews, First Article Inspections, and supports Receiving Inspection on hardware such as Printed Wiring Boards (PWB), Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA), cables and connectors, microelectronics, electro-mechanical systems, and mechanical components & assemblies.
  • Interfaces directly with supplier personnel to assess supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues.
  • Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews supplier performance.
  • Manages supplier requests for waivers, deviations, and discrepancy reporting processes.
  • Keeps management informed of supplier performance, quality status, and risks.
  • Coordinates and oversees Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases.
  • Actively engages in supplier evaluation, qualification, and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and for new procurements on existing programs.
  • Manages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key, and Standard), development and execution of supplier quality risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs.
  • Travels to suppliers as needed to support programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in quality and/or supply chain, or a Master’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in quality and/or supply chain.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Willing to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience facilitating Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities.
  • Defense industry experience, including interfacing with suppliers.
  • Experience in a quality or supplier quality role.
  • SAP Business System experience.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.

Pay

Primary level salary range: $94,200.00 – $141,200.00. The range represents a general guideline; base salary offers consider factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
