About the role
As a Principal Engineer - Robotics, you will perform the design and implementation of complex software stacks to enable robotic design and automation, intelligent sensor integration, and robust software architectures. You will report to the Senior Supervisor, R&D.
Responsibilities
- Design, select, integrate, calibrate, and tune robotic and automation processes with sensor feedback and adaptive planning.
- Develop computer vision algorithms using both classical computer vision and modern AI architectures.
- Program multiple commercial off-the-shelf robotic components such as LiDARs, camera systems, motors, control systems, and middleware architectures (ROS/ROS2).
- Work with Ubuntu Linux and Windows 11 operating systems, and offline programming/simulation tools like Nvidia Isaac.
- Support system deployment including hardware setup, installation, software configuration, initial calibration, acceptance testing, and configuration management of applications and supporting hardware.
- Collaborate with end-users to deploy systems and resolve issues.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Robotics, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience interfacing external sensors and servo systems with operations control.
- Proficiency in ROS2 environment and coding custom interfaces in C++ and Python.
- Ability to architect multithreaded asynchronous software systems for real-time performance.
- Experience with computer vision, including classical strategies and modern AI solutions.
- Familiarity with machine learning architectures: CNN, RNN, Transformer Models, GNN, Diffusion, and GAN.
- Practical ability to train canonical base models such as Yolo, ViT, Convnext, and HRNet.
- Experience with Docker containers, multi-container design, and orchestration.
- Working knowledge of calibration and tuning of robotic motion and auxiliary servo systems.
- Knowledge of local planning strategies for robotics.
- Broad experience with foundational robotic algorithms: Kinematics, Controls, State Estimation, Sensor Fusion, and SLAM.
- Experience designing and validating simulation and digital twin environments.
- Proficiency with Ubuntu Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems, and robotics programming support tools.
- Ability to write custom interfaces to sensors and external control subsystems.
Pay
Base salary range: $103,000 to $129,000 per year, dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills.
