Principal Engineer, Process Development Engineering
About the role
The Principal Engineer – Process Reliability and Process Transfer is a senior technical leadership role responsible for driving innovation, development, and optimization of semiconductor manufacturing processes across wafer fabrication, assembly, and/or test. This role combines deep process engineering expertise with cross-functional leadership to enable Process transfer, yield and reliability matching.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development, integration, and qualification of advanced semiconductor processes.
- Drive yield improvement, defect reduction, and cost optimization using DOE, SPC, and data analytics.
- Enable NPI readiness and transition from R&D to high-volume manufacturing.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, reliability, and foundry partners.
- Lead failure analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across teams.
Required Qualifications
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 10–15+ years of semiconductor process development experience.
- Strong expertise in process integration, fab or assembly processes.
- Experience with DOE, SPC, failure analysis, and reliability methodologies.
- Knowledge of semiconductor equipment and process control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced process technologies or foundry environments.
- Track record of patents, publications, or innovation leadership.
- Experience working across global manufacturing sites.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills.
