About the role

This Principal Engineer, Power Architecture role is a rare opportunity for an experienced hardware, systems, or power architect to shape next-generation systems across high-impact applications. Working at the intersection of customer needs, system innovation, and advanced power technology, you will help define differentiated power solutions that unlock better performance at the full-system level. We are looking for someone who thinks beyond individual components, understands the system architecture, anticipates the power challenges, and translates those needs into high-value solution concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Apply your system-level perspective to connect power architecture choices with overall system performance, including size, efficiency, noise and signal-chain impact.
  • Evaluate trade-offs across different power architectures and recommend differentiated approaches that solve customer problems.
  • Influence future ADI products by helping define new power features, topology, and performance requirements based on market and customer needs.
  • Create high-value technical collateral, including system-level reference designs and application-focused technical material that support strategic growth areas.
  • Build trusted relationships across customers, field teams, and internal design groups to help deliver complete power system solutions.
  • Bring strong technical credibility backed by an MSEE or equivalent experience.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience defining or influencing system-level power requirements in areas such as drones, robotics, phased array radar, satellite communications, or related advanced platforms.
  • A background as a systems architect, power designer, or lead systems designer with the ability to move confidently between detailed design discussions and high-level system trade-offs.
  • Experience with low-voltage, high-current power applications in mixed-signal systems is highly valuable.
  • Strong communication skills, customer presence, and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Hands-on familiarity with lab tools such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, spectrum or network analyzers, and associated software such as Python or LabVIEW is beneficial.

What makes you a strong fit

  • Strong circuit fundamentals, system power design experience, and system thinking skills are important, but equally valuable is the ability to engage credibly with customers, collaborate across engineering disciplines, and turn system insight into compelling technical solutions.

Benefits

  • Medical, vision and dental coverage.
  • 401(k).
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and sick time.

Pay

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $157,080 to $227,460. Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.
