Principal Engineer Outside Plant

Responsibilities
- Assist in leading a team of Engineers and Project Managers in the design, engineering and implementation of fiber optic infrastructure and transmission technologies across major metropolitan markets.
- Develop an understanding of business drivers, technological direction and market conditions necessary for developing and implementing cost-effective and highly reliable fiber optic transport networks.
- Provide subject matter expertise on multiple Outside Plant Engineering functions, processes, and systems in support of the Engineering organization.
- Analyze and coordinate data, regional Engineering input, and report results, and provide recommendations on strategic operating programs, including, but not limited to, FTTP/NT, FTTCS, and HiCap and CORE services.
- Engage with Engineering Support and IT teams to identify and implement system fixes and enhancements while supporting North Star system architecture development and deployment.
- Oversee SOW contract management and vendor engagement to ensure effective pricing and a quality product, in the areas of: Spend Management, Task/Unit Management, Sourcing Interface, Staff, Systems, and IT Interface.
Requirements
Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time. Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
- Experience in Outside Plant Engineering.
- Technical knowledge of Verizon OSP network capabilities, products, and services, as well as associated processes.
- Experience in Google Workspace Suite of products, especially Drive, Sheets, and Slides.
- Experience and proficiency in the following Verizon systems: vBuild, CP, BDMS, FIMS/ICGS/ IDDS, PRS, TIRKS, CoFEE/Canvas, APP, and LFACS.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
- Experience in Outside Plant Engineering.
- Technical knowledge of Verizon OSP network capabilities, products, and services, as well as associated processes.

Pay
The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more.
Schedule
Depending on the role, employees have the opportunity to receive compensation in the form of premium pay such as overtime, shift differential, holiday pay, allowances, etc. Newly hired employees receive up to 15 days of vacation per year, which grows with additional service. For part-timers, your coverage will vary as you may be eligible for some of these benefits depending on your individual circumstances.
