Principal Engineer II

About the role
Ready to lead a high-performing public cloud engineering team? As a Principal Engineer II, you will help the team prioritize, build, and ship the most impactful features to Spectrum’s customers and serve as a mentor to guide and train other engineers. This position will evaluate needs, time limitations, and system limitations when developing software, remain up-to-date on new technologies and software development practices, and translate these skills into the team’s deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Oversee complex and critical projects that involve several technical systems and constituents
- Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas
- Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary
- Test and review system designs
- Provide engineering technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards, and documentation are met
- Mentor and guide the work of senior technical staff
- Review work plans and designs and advise on improvements
- Adhere to industry-specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable
- Know, understand, and follow Spectrum policy
Requirements
- Master’s or bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of engineering work experience
- 10+ years of project management work experience
- Advanced knowledge of related industry specifications and standards (IEEE, ANSI, Fiber, Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet, Transport technologies and protocols)
- Advanced knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology
- Advanced knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
- Advanced knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support current operations
- Advanced knowledge of network devices, basic network appliances, and network designing software such as Visio
- Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment and learn new technology quickly
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- Industry and vendor-specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
- Knowledge of Spectrum products and services

Pay
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $124,000.00 and $220,000.00. The actual compensation offered will consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
