Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical leadership, conduct design reviews, and resolve complex electrical issues.
- Lead electrical system architecture for power plants, including MV/LV distribution, grounding, and UPS/DC systems.
- Ensure designs meet NEC/NESC, NFPA 70/70E, IEEE, ANSI/NEMA, IEC, AHJ, and utility standards.
- Collaborate across engineering teams to share lessons learned and support multiple projects.
- Prepare technical proposals and presentations while protecting company IP.
- Research and implement new technologies to improve performance, cost, and reliability.
- Deliver engineering work on time, within scope, budget, and quality targets.
- Track process-improvement and equipment-performance metrics.
- Serve as lead project engineer and mentor junior engineers when needed.
- Coordinate with hardware design teams on major components.
- Work with suppliers on specifications, FATs/SATs, and nonconformance resolution.
- Prepare clear technical reports, presentations, and communications.
- Provide onsite customer/vendor support, including occasional international travel.
- Assist field engineers with troubleshooting and material or process deviations.
- Recommend cost and process improvements to leadership.
- Perform additional engineering duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; 10–15+ years of progressive experience in gas turbine design, materials, manufacturing, and service engineering.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional design teams and managing supplier technical interfaces.
- Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, diagrams, safety rules, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills for preparing reports and presenting to customers and internal teams; Japanese language ability preferred.
- Proficiency with mathematical concepts including geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and applied engineering calculations.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems in situations with limited standardization.
- Proficiency with databases, project management tools, spreadsheets, word processing, diagrams, and technical software.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds and work in typically quiet environments with occasional PPE requirements.
